Trelona is an above-ground termite bait station system. Stations are placed in the soil around the foundation, termites find them and feed on the bait matrix, and the colony is reduced over time. Stations are checked once a year. No soil treatment, no drilling, no liquid barrier - which is why bait is the right approach on a lot of Central Ohio properties.

How the system works
- Stations are installed in active soil around the foundation, typically 10 to 20 per property depending on the structure and lot
- Each station is loaded with the Trelona bait matrix at installation
- Termites find the station and feed on the matrix
- The active ingredient is an insect growth regulator, so the colony is reduced over time rather than killed on contact
- Stations are checked annually, the matrix is replaced as needed, and each visit is documented
Why bait instead of a liquid barrier
A liquid termiticide creates a treated zone in the soil. It works, but it requires soil application, and on many properties that is not practical - finished basements, crawl spaces, hardscape, wells, or a grade that directs water against the foundation. Bait avoids that. The stations keep working between visits, so the colony is being reduced while the program is running.
Bait is slower than a barrier. A barrier is immediate; a bait program is measured over one to two seasons. If termites are already inside the structure, bait alone is not the right answer - that is treatment first, then monitoring.
Monitoring schedule
Stations are checked annually. At each check the matrix is inspected and replaced if termites are feeding on it, and visit history is documented - which matters if you sell the property or file a claim.
What bait does not do
It does not repair damage, and it does not protect instantly. Existing damage stays damaged. Bait controls the colony and reduces the risk going forward; structural repair is separate work and is quoted separately.
Plans & pricing
Inspection is free for Central Ohio properties we service. A Trelona program is priced by scope - number of stations, access, and monitoring interval - and is billed separately from the quarterly residential tiers. Call 614-592-4616 for a quote before any stations are installed.
FAQs about Trelona bait stations
How do Trelona bait stations work?
Termites find the station and feed on the cellulose matrix. The active ingredient is an insect growth regulator, so the colony is reduced over time rather than killed on contact.
Do bait stations require drilling or soil treatment?
No. Stations are installed above ground in the soil around the foundation, which is why they work on properties where a liquid barrier is not practical.
How often are stations checked?
Annually. Visit history is documented at each check.
How long does a bait program take?
Activity is usually found at the first annual check. Colony reduction is measured over one to two seasons, not a single visit.
Is the bait station inspection free?
Yes for Central Ohio properties we service. Call 614-592-4616 and we will tell you what we find before recommending a program.
