Ant control in Central Ohio depends entirely on the species. Carpenter ants are a structural problem, fire ants are a safety problem, and odorous house ants are the most common summer nuisance in kitchens. Spraying the trail you can see does nothing to the colony, which is why ants come back within weeks.

Signs of ants
- Sawdust-like material, hollow-sounding wood, or smooth galleries in structural lumber (carpenter ants)
- Consistent trails along foundations, driveways or the side of the house
- Nests in soil, mulch, under slabs, or in foundation gaps
- Ants appearing in kitchens after rain or a warm spell
- Multiple species at the same time, which means two separate colonies
- Winged ants indoors - swarming usually means an established colony nearby
How we treat ants
We identify the species first, because correct identification drives correct treatment. Carpenter ants need the parent colony located and the moisture problem addressed. Odorous house ants are handled with baiting that workers carry back to the colony.
Baiting is placed in high-traffic foraging areas and monitored between visits. Gel baits and insect growth regulators reduce the population over two to four weeks, which is slower than a spray but actually ends the colony.
Exclusion closes the trails: we seal entry points at the foundation, remove mulch and soil contact, and treat the harborage so the colony is not re-established from the yard.
Prevention
Keep mulch, soil and firewood off the foundation, seal gaps around utility penetrations and door thresholds, wipe down food trails and pheromone paths, and fix the moisture issue that attracted carpenter ants in the first place. Ants that keep returning to the same spot are usually nesting in that spot.
Plans & pricing
Inspection is free for Central Ohio properties we service. Ants service is priced by scope - one-time as-needed treatment, or a quarterly plan under one of the three residential tiers that includes re-treatment between visits if the problem returns. FAQs about ants
What types of ants do you treat?
Carpenter ants, fire ants, odorous house ants, and other common Central Ohio species.
How do you eliminate ants?
Inspection to find the species and nest, then baiting or targeted treatment plus exclusion.
Are ant treatments safe for kids and pets?
Yes. We use low-toxicity products and explain precautions before treatment.
Why do ants come back after spraying?
Spray kills the foragers you can see. The colony keeps producing new foragers, so the trail returns until the colony itself is treated.
How long does ant control take?
Baiting programs usually show clear reduction in two to four weeks, with the colony collapsing over the following visits.
