A flea problem inside a house is a lifecycle problem. Most of the population is in the egg, larva and pupal stage in carpets, pet bedding, cracks and upholstery - not the adults you see on the pet. Treating only the adults is why flea infestations drag on for months.
Signs of fleas
- Bites concentrated on ankles and lower legs
- Pets scratching, biting at the base of the tail, or losing fur
- Flea dirt - small black specks that turn reddish when wet - on bedding and carpets
- Adults jumping near pet sleeping areas, entryways and under furniture
- Worse activity in carpeted rooms and along baseboards
- Multiple pets affected at the same time
How we treat fleas
We treat the interior harborages, not just the visible area: carpets, pet bedding, upholstered furniture, and the cracks and seams where larvae develop. An insect growth regulator is included so eggs and larvae cannot mature after the initial treatment.
Pet treatment has to happen at the same time as the interior treatment. If the animals are not treated, they restock the population daily and the house work is wasted.
Follow-up visits matter because pupae in the floor are protected from treatment and hatch on a delay. A single visit rarely finishes a flea infestation - later visits catch the hatch as it emerges.
Prevention
Wash pet bedding in hot water, vacuum daily during an active infestation and dispose of the bag, treat every animal in the home, and seal the cracks along baseboards and flooring where larvae feed on organic debris.
Plans & pricing
Inspection is free for Central Ohio properties we service. Fleas service is priced by scope - one-time as-needed treatment, or a quarterly plan under one of the three residential tiers that includes re-treatment between visits if the problem returns. See residential plans and commercial programs, or call 614-592-4616 for a quote before any work is scheduled.
FAQs about fleas
How do I know if my home has fleas?
Bites on ankles, scratching pets, flea dirt on bedding, and small jumping insects.
How do you treat fleas?
Interior treatment of problem areas plus guidance on pet treatment and washing to break the lifecycle.
Are flea treatments safe for pets?
Yes. We use pet-safe methods and explain precautions before treatment.
Why do fleas come back after treatment?
Pupae in the floor are protected from treatment and hatch later. That is why follow-up visits are part of the plan.
Do I need to treat the yard too?
Often yes, if pets spend time outdoors. Shaded, moist areas with pet traffic are where fleas persist between visits.
